GEORGE TOWN — The Parliamentary Select Committee on Electoral Reforms (PSC) will prepare a summary for 10 more new proposals which would be tabled in Parliament in March.Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili, who chaired a two-day public hearing beginning today, said PSC had earlier, tabled 10 proposals to Parliament, including the use of the indelible ink.
"I hope after completing the public hearing at the end of January, we could begin to prepare the summary of the 10 new proposals which would be tabled in Parliament in March," he told reporters here during a break of the public hearing at Dewan Sri Pinang here today.
He said the proposal paper for the second tabling would take time as there were many suggestions for which, it was difficult to obtain a unanimous decision.
"Nonetheless, I am confident with the members of parliament that solutions would be found," said.
Earlier, among groups which presented their suggestions in the morning session were Penang Parti Keadilan Rakyat, Bayan Baru branch of Parti Sosialis Malaysia, Penang Datuk Council and Parti Cinta Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Ongkili said there was a proposal to set up an institution or foundation under the Election Commission, aimed at carrying out a public awareness campaign on the rights of voters and encouraging them to vote for political maturity.
