{"id":8537,"date":"2022-05-05T12:18:27","date_gmt":"2022-05-05T04:18:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/partisosialis.org\/stop-the-military-aggression-against-the-kurds\/"},"modified":"2022-05-05T12:39:12","modified_gmt":"2022-05-05T04:39:12","slug":"stop-the-military-aggression-against-the-kurds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/partisosialis.org\/en\/stop-the-military-aggression-against-the-kurds\/","title":{"rendered":"Stop the military aggression against the Kurds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(Original Article at <a href=\"https:\/\/thinkleft.net\/2022\/04\/28\/stop-the-military-aggression-against-the-kurds\/\">ThinkLeft.Net<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>The Socialist Party of Malaysia (PSM) strongly condemns the newly intensified cross-border offensive of Turkish armed forces against the Kurds.<\/p>\n<p>While the international news is dominated by Russia\u2019s war of aggression against Ukraine, we must not ignore the ongoing aggression against the Kurds by NATO member, Turkey, with their latest offense taking place in Southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq). The Turkish military is also stepping up its attack on the liberated territories of Rojava (north-eastern Syria).<\/p>\n<p>Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan, the increasingly authoritarian Turkish president who hypocritically pretended to be a \u201cpeacemaker\u201d in the Ukraine war has ordered the latest round of cross-border attacks which took effect on 17th April 2022, targeting areas controlled by Kurdistan Workers\u2019 Party (PKK) guerrillas in Southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq). One of Erdo\u011fan\u2019s plans is to take over territories controlled by the PKK and establish more military bases there, with dozens of them already currently in place. Parallel to the Turkish invasion of Southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq), the Turkish military continues to deploy drones to attack and kill people in Rojava (Northeastern Syria).<\/p>\n<p>Domestically, the Erdo\u011fan regime is pursuing systematic repression against the pro-Kurdish Peoples\u2019 Democratic Party (HDP).
