Let Ambiga judge if Khalid is dirty, says Arul

The Socialist Party of Malaysia (PSM) said today that although it took no sides in the Selangor menteri besar tussle, it recommends that PKR lets a neutral party like Pak Samad Said or Ambiga Sreenevasan judge if Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is corrupt.

PSM secretary-general S Arutchelvan said with so many versions of the "Kajang Move" being circulated, it was hard for the public to discern whether it was just Khalid being a recalcitrant or indeed there was a power struggle going on within PKR.

"For me, this is an internal power struggle that has now been turned into an issue of bribery and integrity.

"On this issue, I fully support Dr Kua Kia Soong's statement that investigations must be professionally done because misuse of public funds is not PKR or Pakatan internal issue anymore but public interest is at stake," Arutchelvan said in his Facebook posting.

He said that a fair and free investigation must be carried out by someone respectable like Pak Samad Said or Ambiga Sreenevasan, both former chairpersons of the Coalition for Free and Fair Elections (Bersih).

Pak Samad Said is a national laureate while Ambiga is a former Bar Council chairperson.

"Up to now there are so many issues that have been raised but the real issues are still concealed. Only a free investigation can clear the air on the situation," he added.

Arutchelvan concludes that the real victims of the tussle for the post of Selangor menteri besar are the Selangorians, who were not being served in the meantime as ground problems such as garbage collection, affordable housing and water issues dragged on.

"Each time I go to the secretariat, I am told that the issues cannot be solved because of the MB crisis. Therefore, I hope this issue can be quickly settled so that the day-to-day operation of the state government can return to business as usual,"  he said.

The other victim would be PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Arutchelvan noted, observing that she was probably an unwilling menteri besar-in-waiting.

Describing Wan Azizah as a honest person with high integrity, he said that  it looked like she has been forced to accept a position she doesn't want to so that PKR's factionalism could be overcome.
