The merchants of war use the language of peace to sooth their conscience and to placate tax payers. While USA based firms have captured more than 50% of the world arms export market, the Russians boast that they are second only to the Americans as suppliers of weapons. The Europens and Russians will not be kept out of this competitive arms trade. Malaysia have signed and arms deal with Russia in the year 2003 and yet still the significance of the deal is still not clear.
if ever there was a societal phenomenon that merited questioning, it is the arms trade, militarism more generally. It is hardly a new issue. the writer has drafted the book with quaotations from a Chinese philosopher who, already 2400 years ago, criticised the moral blindness of the ‘Rulers of the Earth’.
