Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) mahu Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia (KPM) membayar pampasan terhadap kira-kira 12,000 pekerja yang kehilangan pekerjaan disebabkan pengurangan belanjawan bagi perkhidmatan kontrak.
Anggota Jawatankuasa Pusat PSM, R Mohanarani juga menolak penjelasan KPM yang berkata tidak bertanggungjawab terhadap para pekerja yang tidak diperbaharui kontrak perkhidmatannya kerana ia dilakukan syarikat swasta.
“Memang di bawah sistem kontrak yang diwujudkan oleh KPM, tugas pengambilan pekerja telah disubkontrak kepada kontraktor. Kontraktor bertanggungjawab penuh atas pemilihan pekerjanya, iaitu dia boleh memilih siapa sahaja dia mahu untuk menjadi pekerjanya.
“Tetapi perkara-perkara seperti bilangan pekerja untuk sesebuah premis KPM, jumlah gaji dan bilangan syif diputuskan oleh KPM. Sekiranya dalam harga kontrak, KPM memperuntukan bayaran gaji untuk empat orang pekerja sahaja untuk salah satu sekolah, maka tentulah kontraktor berkenaan akan mengambil empat orang pekerja sahaja.
“Sekiranya kontrak sebelum itu menggajikan enam orang pekerja, maka dua orang akan hilang kerja. Adakah ini kesalahan kontraktor atau berpunca daripada dasar KPM?” Soalnya.
Mohanarai berkata kontrak berkenaan bagi tempoh tiga tahun dan kebiasaannya akan diperbaharui.
Hilang mata pencarian
Menurutnya sistem kontrak yang diamalkan Kementerian Pendidikan tidak adil kepada mereka yang diambil sebagai pekerja kerana kontrak mereka boleh ditamatkan tanpa jaminan seperti bayaran pampasan
“Sistem kontrak dipakai untuk kerja-kerja bukan sementara untuk mengurangkan kos bagi kerajaan tetapi menindas pekerja,” katanya.
Pekerja yang tidak diperbaharui kontraknya kehilangan mata pencariannya secara tiba-tiba, jelasnya.
“KPM harus sedar bahawa beribu-ribu pekerja dan keluarga B20 mereka terjejas dan merana akibatnya.
“KPM harus sedar bahawa pekerja kontrak yang bekerja di premisnya adalah manusia yang ada keperluan asas tertentu dan bukan robot…
“PSM menuntut supaya semua pekerja yang kehilangan kerja… akibat perubahan dasar KPM dibayar pampasan berhenti kerja dan bayaran ganti notis untuk jumlah tempoh perkhidmatan mereka di premis KPM,” katanya lagi.
Selain 12,000 pengawal keselamatan yang terjejas, kata Mohanarai terdapat 12,000 tukang cuci yang tidak diperbaharui kontrak pekerjaan mereka.
Kementerian Pendidikan telah membuat penjelasan bahawa kontrak perkhidmatan pekerja berkenaan telah tamat tempohnya dan ia akan melalui proses tender semula berdasarkan keperluan semasa kementerian itu.
